Introduction:
Visiocorp has a new Joint Venture in China, The ‘Ningbo Visiocorp Huaxiang Mirror Company’. This Greenfield plant will manufacture Exterior Mirrors and Fuel Fillers for the fast growing China Domestic market. Reporting to the General Manager of the Joint Venture, the Engineering Manager will play an important role in developing the capability of this new company. The position will be based in the JV’s Shanghai Design and Sales Office but will also require regular travel to the Xizhou manufacturing facility (now under construction – see picture). Xizhou is located near Ningbo, a large city located on the coast approximately 200km to the south of Shanghai.
Responsibilities:
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of approximately 20 Chinese Engineers. Responsibilities include Design, Project Management, Tooling and Manufacturing Engineering. Developing the capability and expertise of this young and relatively inexperienced team is a key part of this role. You will be required to lead the development and implementation of basic systems and procedures in the Engineering department, particularly during the current initial JV establishment phase. The Engineering Manager will also need to play a proactive role in ensuring that the JV Engineering team becomes an integral part of the Visiocorp global engineering community.
Requirements:
Ideally applicants will have at least 5 years experience working within Visiocorp with at least some of this time in a management position. Applicants must have fluent English language abilities; Chinese language skill would naturally be an advantage but is not a requirement for this position. This position represents a challenging but potentially very rewarding role. It is a unique and rare opportunity to be involved in the building of Visiocorp’s presence in China.
